Biography
College School in 2003, he studied Fine Arts at Mount Allison University, majoring in Painting and Drawing. After three years at Mount Allison, Jon moved to Greece where he studied Classical painting at the Aegean Center for Fine Arts. He returned to Canada in 2008 to round out his education with a year at Ontario College of Art and Design. Jon has since returned to the Southern Georgian Bay area to open a studio/gallery in downtown Collingwood.
Since 2016 Jon has been a member of the painting group Untamed Things. Originally formed as a tribute to Tom Thomson on the anniversary of his death, it has continued as group of friends who a share a love of exploration and painting, with yearly trips and exhibitions. www.untamedthings.com
Jon’s paintings can be recognized by the use of bright colours and a clean graphic style. He works with oil on canvas and his subject matter consists of scenes ranging across Canada, with a focus on Georgian Bay, The Niagara Escarpment, and Toronto.
